TEA HOUSE AND MEDITATION PLACE

The shape of this building was determined by integration to the site.

When finished, the building seemed to have always been there.

Originally, the purpose of this building was to be a storehouse, however as the structure was constructed, the client redefined the purpose to become a tea house and meditation place.

Fixed to a ring of concrete piers, a steel frame formed the building’s shape.  Gunite® concrete was blown through a net of re-bar and stainless wire mesh reinforcement and hand toweled to finish.

Floor, deck and stair are from 2” white oak.

The copper cap has a finial of dental mirrors to reflect light and to be easily replaced if damaged by falling branches
